On MTV.com in Bad Shoes

MTV.com's coverage of @LenaDunham's flashback post

MTV.com's coverage of @LenaDunham's flashback post

Recently, my Instagram feed was blowing up with @DoubleNRich's over a throwback pic that Lena Dunham posted of our crew of original TeenVogue "It Girls."  Some of whom I still keep in touch with and run into.

The backstory is, after participating in a focus group and meeting the editor-in-chief, Amy Astley at a TeenVogue test Launch party -- the highlight of my night was bumping into Jessica Simpson and telling my friend Sophie that she was "totally around my height!" I was asked to be apart of these lucky ladies and help shape the direction for the new teen magazine she was launching.  I considered myself a sophisticated teen expert (I kind of still do, forever young, that's my motto and that sound weirdly makes me tear up) so felt I was perfect for this.  To our credit, TeenVogue survived in a market where magazines were dropping like flies and it's contemporaries, Elle Girl, Cosmo Girl and all those other Felecias did not.  I'd like to think Lena, Bee, Selby, Lana, Annabelle, Lola, Tory and I had something to do with that.  Needless to say this launched my career in fashion -- I finally started to see fashion as a career and well the rest is history.

But I really do wish I had chosen a better outfit.  I was going through an expensive rebel phase where I was buying pot leaf tanks and fish net tops from Scoop NYC.  And those platforms... yikes!  I do wish my first appearance on MTV.com was in better form.  Like on the shoulders of Alexander Skarsgård during an obscure European Music Fest.  But there you go, the words "Pussy Breath" and Nneya Richards, back to back.

Carrie Brownstein in Katherine Feiner Selena Skirt from FW14

Portlandia is fast becoming one of my favorite TV shows.  Love all of the characters and it really makes me want to go to Portland, especially after hearing people compare Portland to Brooklyn for years.  I was eager to send over a few clients pieces when my girls Kemal & Karla said they were dressing Carrie for the Seth Meyers show.  Carrie's style is really dainty and feminine with a thrifting vintage feel so I was pretty excited to see what the girls came up with.  Absolutely loved this Katherine Feiner Selena Skirt from the FW14 collection paired with that epic blouse!

Check it out below and on NBC.com!

Mad Hatter meets the Colony Club!

I had such a great time at the Art Production Fund's 5th annual gala at the Colony Club last night!  From overflowing coupes of champagne to discussing dress train problems with Emmy Rossum, it was definitely a great night!

I wore a leather Ralph Lauren Purple Label peplum bustier and my go-to Oscar de la Renta ball skirt.

Check out my event report for Scene mag!

Maggie Grace In Vintage – Global Green USA’s 11th Annual Pre-Oscar Party

Actress Maggie Grace wowed the red carpet in a vintage silk night down from the 1920s at Global Green USA's 11th Annual Pre-Oscar Party.  The look is definitely an eco-friendly choice that gives an old Hollywood feel to the timeless beauty.  It also reminds me of a look we dressed her in for the MET Ball in 2011, a very similar Topshop slip gown.

Maggie was able to attend the ball last minute at our Topshop table and we were in a crunch to find a dress that the star would feel comfortable in, yet simultaneously have that WOW factor.  We didn't have time for the design studio to send something from London custom for Maggie and had to work with the pieces we had in showroom for VIP dress.  As soon as she stepped out into her room living room of the Mondrian Hotel in her bright jewel box of a room, I knew we hit the mark.
